Dara McCormick Feldman
and Bonny Chambers worked as Early
Childhood Instructional Technology Specialists with
the Office of Global Access Technology, for
Montgomery County Public Schools in Rockville,
Maryland.
They co-wrote the Early
Childhood Technology Literacy Challenge Grant. This
grant provides training and support to Early
Childhood Teachers, Specialists and Instructional
Assistants at Title I schools in MCPS on ways
technology can enhance a balanced literacy program.
The training is focused on utilizing strategies and
tools, including appropriate software and Internet
resources, to support MCPS Reading/Language Arts
outcomes.

Dara

Dara was the coordinator
for the Technology Literacy Challenge Grant. In
addition to working on the grant, Dara provided
training to a variety of other audiences throughout
Montgomery County on how to use technology to
enhance learning. Dara is a member of the NETs
writing team, an Apple Distinguished Educator, the
president of the NAEYC Technology Caucus, and a
master teacher for the National Teacher Training
Institute. She has presented at several local,
state and national conferences. Dara has been a
classroom teacher for 12 years, grades PreK-4. She
currently teaches kindergarten at Garrett Park ES
in Kensington, MD. Dara is the mother of 2 terrific
children, Danielle and Jake. Dara's kids are a
great help when it comes to reviewing software,
lesson plans and web sites!

Bonny
Chambers
Bonny was the webmaster for the
Early Childhood Technology Literacy Project. As an
Instructional Technology Specialist, she planned
and implemented staff development for a variety of
MCPS teachers on integrating the use of technology
into instructional programs to enhance student
learning and achievement. She has presented at
several state and national conferences. Bonny was a
classroom teacher for 7 years and has taught grades
2-5. She has done work in developing curriculum and
teacher support materials for the MCPS Department
of Curriculum and Instruction in Reading Language
Arts, Elementary Science and Elementary Social
Studies. Bonny also served as a mentor and lead
trainer for teachers new to Montgomery County
Public Schools. Bonny currently works as the
Technology Magnet Coordinator at Pine Crest ES in
Silver Spring, MD.
