2000 Computerworld Smithsonian Award
The Early Childhood Technology Literacy Project received the 2000 Computerworld Smithsonian Award for its visionary use of information technology in the Education & Academia category. Nominated by Mr. Steven P. Jobs, chief executive officer of Apple Computer, Inc., the Early Childhood Technology Literacy Project was selected by a panel of distinguished judges based on its innovative use of information technology to benefit society.

Montgomery County Public Schools' Early Childhood Technology Literacy Project (ECTLP) became part of the Permanent Research Collection on Information Technology at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History on Monday, April 3rd when the 2000 Information Technology Innovation Collection was formally presented to the Institution.
