Rubrics
Rubrics are sets of scoring guidelines for evaluating student work and are used in foreign language classes to grade performance-based or authentic tasks. The foreign language program uses holistic rubrics (one general rubric) that have been developed to evaluate speaking and writing tasks. The rubrics are used throughout the year to ensure that students understand their use centrally-developed on exams. By providing rubrics prior to a task, teachers communicate what makes a good performance before students are evaluated.
