What immersion programs are offered in MCPS?

Contact individual schools for information about their programs and their open houses.
What are the criteria for admission into immersion programs?
There are no admissions criteria for kindergarten or 1st Grade. However, if requests exceed the available program capacity, admission will be determined by lottery. Admission for all other grades is determined by language proficiency and available space.
How do I apply for an immersion program?
- Fill out MCPS form 335-45, "Requests for a Change of School Assignment", available online or at any MCPS elementary.
- Return the form to your home school for review and signature by the principal between February 1 and April 1. The school will forward the form to the appropriate student services Field Office for processing.
- Every effort is made to notify parents by May.
How do I find out the status of my child's application?
The lottery process goes through the student services field offices.
