The MONTGOMERY COUNTY STUDENTS AUTOMOTIVE TRADES FOUNDATION, INC. (ATF) is a nonprofit organization established cooperatively by the Montgomery County business and professional community and Montgomery County Public Schools to provide a unique method of training high school students for skilled positions in the automotive field: the Mini Dealership, a licensed used car dealership. Students receive valuable on-the-job training that will prepare them for higher educational opportunities or direct entry into the automotive industry. The vehicles below have been repaired and serviced by the automotive technology and automotive body repair students enrolled at the Thomas Edison High School of Technology, Damascus, Gaithersburg, and Seneca Valley High School. All vehicles are Maryland State Inspected prior to delivery and vehicles with less than 90,000 miles come with a 30 day or 1,000 mile powertrain warranty. All vehicles with 90,000 or more miles are discounted and sold in “as is” condition. The Automotive Trades Foundation processes all tag and title work. (Tags, title, fees, and sales tax are in addition to the vehicle price.) A $100 deposit (checks preferred; cash accepted) is required when you decide to purchase a vehicle. The balance of the purchase price is due when you receive the vehicle, within three to five working days. All deposits are non- refundable after one week (5 working days) after sale. Individuals who choose to test drive sale vehicles must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid drivers license.

Description of Lottery Drawing for Vehicle Purchase


If a customer wants to purchase a vehicle, he/she must complete a lottery ticket (1 ticket per household/address). The drawing will take place at 11 a.m. Customers must be present at the time of the drawing to purchase a vehicle. As each customer's lottery ticket is drawn, he/she is asked which vehicle he/she wants to purchase. Customer then completes a tag/title/insurance information form. Most vehicles are deliverable at the sale. A customer may purchase the vehicle or leave a deposit of $100 (check preferred; cash accepted) at this time. The balance of the purchase price (plus tax, tag, title expenses) is paid at the time of delivery of the vehicle. A deposit will hold the vehicle through the following week (generally 5 working days after the sale) to allow customers time to complete the transaction.  All interested customers should stay for the entire drawing. We draw all names and give each customer a lottery number. That number is used to call the customers on the "back-up list." Occasionally a customer is not able to acquire financing or declines to take delivery of the vehicle. We then look at the "back-up list" for the next lowest number interested in that vehicle and call that customer.
