The ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) instructional specialists provide direct support to schools as well as professional development opportunities for ESOL teachers, regular education classroom teachers, special educators, and other support professionals and school-based administrators. Typical services in schools include:

Observing instruction and providing feedback about effective instructional strategies for English language learners.

Collaborating with the school administration to support the ESOL instructional program in your school.

Providing instructional support to new ESOL teachers.

Providing support to ESOL teams regarding ESOL programs at the school (e.g., scheduling, instructional models, and instructional placement decisions).

Providing recommendations and support for new teachers regarding the ESOL reporting and documentation procedures.

Collaborating with school teams and ESOL teachers about the ESOL curriculum, assessments, and grading and reporting.

Analyzing ESOL data and discussing the relevance of this data to other achievement data

Work with school and central office staff to support the professional development opportunities for non- ESOL staff to make the curriculum accessible to English language learners.
Further supports are provided through periodic systemwide meetings, a series of "ESOL for Leaders Webinars," and information disseminated by means of an internal electronic bulletin board.
