Charge

Membership

The AEI Advisory Committee is representative of the rich cultural and linguistic diversity in Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS).

The committee is comprised of 20-25 community and staff stakeholders who represent multiple points of view. It is preferred that community and parent advisory members be parents of MCPS students. MCPS staff consists of school-based and central services teachers and administrators, and may not make up more than 50% of committee membership.

Statements of Purpose

The AEI Advisory Committee provides feedback and continuing guidance to staff on MCPS programs and the implementation of MCPS Policy IOA Gifted and Talented Education.

The committee is continuing the work of the Deputy Superintendent's Advisory Committee (DSAC) to ensure follow-through on recommendations from the DSAC Report.

The committee will increase communication among stakeholders and groups interested in accelerated and enriched instruction and a high level of academic rigor in Montgomery County Public Schools.

The committee will serve as a multi-stakeholder group to provide input to staff on its work on any revisions of MCPS Policy IOA Gifted and Talented Education.

Responsibilities

Members serve for one year with the option to continue for an additional year.
The Committee meets 5-6 times annually. Meetings are held in CESC, Room 127, unless otherwise notified. Additional meetings may be convened as necessary.
Upcoming Meeting Dates

Duties include regular participation in meetings, work on sub-committees as needed, and dissemination of information to, and collection of feedback from, stakeholder groups.
