University of Maryland Science Immersion Program
The Summer Science Immersion Program consists of one-week sessions available during the month of July from 9:00-4:00 daily. This program is for current high school sophomores or juniors who are interested in forensic science, biomedical science and animal behavior, and Physiology. Last year there were over 200 applicants for 100 slots and the average WGPA of students admitted to the program was 3.83. National Space Club Scholars Program
NASA announces their 2007 Space Club Scholars Program for 10th grade students who have demonstrated high academic success and have an interest in space science or engineering as a career. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and have permanent year-round residence within commuting distance of Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD or Wallops Island, VA. This six week program provides first-hand work experience in a research environment to inspire the next generation of NASA explorers. Students will receive a $1,000 stipend to offset transportation costs and meals. The Bank of America Student Leaders Program is seeking H.S. juniors or seniors with strong leadership skills and experience who have demonstrated interest in tackling the crucial issues facing communities today. District Of Columbia National Guard Youth Leaders' Camp

West Point Military Academy Leaders Academy
This highly competitive leadership seminar provides outstanding H.S. juniors the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the academic, physical and leadership programs at a service academy. Only 800 students will be invited nationwide who meet these guidelines: top fifth of their high school class; pursuing a college prep curriculum; strong PSAT scores; demonstrated leadership potential (e.g. elected to office, extracurricular & organized athletic activities). Recreation Department Summer Teen Volunteer Opportunities
The Montgomery County Department of Recreation's Youth Services and Therapeutic Recreation Program is seeking teen volunteers who would like to train to become recreation leaders to provide assistance for the department's summer camp programs. This year Boy's State will be held in June, 2007. Completed applications and Post sponsor fees must be received in Department Headquarters no later than May 1st. Natural Resources Careers Conference
This seven-day conference is designed for Maryland high school students interested in pursuing a career in forestry and natural resources. Students will learn about working in the field of natural resources, the education required and career options. The cost of the program is paid by the country Forestry Boards. Application deadline: April 30th.The week-long conference will take place in Garrett County from July 22 - 28th.
MCPS Summer Internship Program
Current 10th and 11th grade students can apply to participate in the MCPS Summer High School Internship Program that runs for five uninterrupted weeks. Half day and full day internships are available in several career areas. University of Maryland at Baltimore Biomedical Research Program
This free program offers students the opportunity to work in a laboratory that is conducting animal or human research in various areas of biomedical studies. Full time attendance is required. Tuskegee University invites promising graduating seniors to earn college credit this summer before going to college as a Computer Science major in the fall. UMBC Upward Bound Math And Science Summer
Residential Program
This federally funded program is designed to introduce high school students to mathematics and science careers. All expenses for field trips, meals, and housing for the six week summer program is paid for by the U.S. Government. Students must be in 9, 10, or 11th grades with minimum 3.0 GPA and be low-income or first-generation college status.
