LENGTH OF TOUR: 2 - 2 1/2 hours, historic interpretation; Colonial Days a special elementary school program, between 9:30 and 1 pm.


DESCRIPTION AND RESOURCES

DESCRIPTION: Colonial plantation overlooking Potomac River. Artifacts of George Washington. Tour includes visit to home, 13 outbuildings, 2 tombs, 3 gardens (flower, vegetable, herb), wharf and gift shop. In spring 2000 the grist mill will be available as part of the tour, at an additional cost. No reservations needed. A special program for elementary schools, "Colonial Days" is offered mid-October to mid-November and mid-February to mid March. Students can see colonial crafters and participate in a variety of colonial activities. Reservations are needed for Colonial Days.

Near Washington Grist Mill and Woodlawn Plantation (3 miles away). Public park 1 mile north on Potomac. Riverside park has picnic area. 1 adult per 10 students.
