DESCRIPTION AND RESOURCES

DESCRIPTION: This house is designated a National Historic Landmark and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The house is a completely restored two-story log farm house, furnished appropriately for 1859. It served as the temporary residence for three and a half months for John Brown and his army of 21 abolitionists. Here Brown and his army ate, slept, and made their weapons. It was the staging area for their raid on Harperžs Ferry. Students see wax figures of Brown, his one son and one daughter. A good example of a log house, and a good place to visit prior to Harper's Ferry.
