DESCRIPTION AND RESOURCES

DESCRIPTION: Tour this Federal period house (c. 1800) in Georgetown. Home of Joseph Nourse, Register of the U.S. Treasury for 50 years. The home has eight rooms with Federal antiques, costumes, and paintings. Students are given a 40 min. house tour followed by a workshop in which they write letters with quill pens and participate in a Federal tea. Dumbarton House is open to the general public Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 am to 12:15 pm, year round, except for August when it is closed. Donations from the public are suggested.
