OVERVIEW
MCPS is committed to eliminating the disproportionate representation of African American students in special education. The enrollment of students with disabilities is captured in the annual census count that occurs on the last Friday of October of each year. This number reflects students who are receiving special education services and assists the Maryland State Department of Education in evaluating priorities and allocating federal resources. The information in this count also provides information on how MCPS is providing special education instructional programs.
