To prepare all students to live and work in the highly technological environment of the 21st century, MCPS encourages all students to pursue higher-level mathematics and science courses. Success in Algebra I is necessary to gain access to higher-level mathematics and science courses, as well as to prepare for the mathematics portion of the SAT.
