How to Apply for Foundation Scholarships

Step 1Student

  1. Student must complete the Scholarship Application Form (can be completed online in interactive PDF) then print.
  2. Student must sign the application form.
  3. Student must ask high school registrar for her/his unofficial high school transcript.
  4. Student must ask a teacher or school counselor to complete the evaluation form, sign, then return to student in a sealed envelope.
  5. Student must write a one-page typewritten essay describing your financial need, including any extenuating circumstances, and why your transcript may not reflect your true ability. You may include information about work experiences, student service learning activities, or other activities that may support your application.
  6. Student must complete the Montgomery College Admission Application form. (Montgomery College students are given preference for legislative scholarships.)

Step 2  Parent

  1. Parent must review and sign the application form.
  2. Parent and student must complete the Federal Student Aid Form (FAFSA) and print out the completed form.

Step 3 School counselor or Selected teacher

  • School counselor or teacher of student's choosing must complete the evaluation form, sign, then return to student in a sealed envelope. (This can be completed online then printed and signed.)

Step 4 Student checks that application packet includes all of these 

  1. Scholarship Application Form completed and signed by student and parent.
  2. Unofficial High School Transcript
  3. One recommendation from a teacher or school counselor
  4. Financial Needs Essay
  5. Copy of Application for Federal Student Aid Form (FAFSA)

Step 5 Student submits application to be received by April 1, 2008


RETURN THE COMPLETED APPLICATION PACKET AND ALL ITEMS ON THE APPLICATION CHECKLIST. ALL INFORMATION MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE APRIL 1, 2008 DEADLINE.
