DIRECTIONS:

With the members of your garden group, you will research the insects that are potential pests in your garden. Your goal is to design and publish an integrated management plan for controlling these insects. Your group may choose the format for displaying your plan (examples: poster, pamphlet, power point), but the following information MUST be included for each insect:

name and picture of the insect
plants that this insect attacks
description of the damage it can cause
artificial chemical controls for the insect
natural chemical controls for the insect
biological controls for the insect, including (if applicable) –

companion plants
beneficial insects
other methods of control

The chart in “Use of Information” will help you get your information organized.

 

1. As a group, decide which members will research each pest.
2. Use the attached chart to gather information.
3. As a group, choose a format for presenting your Integrated Pest Management Plan.
4. As a group, assign roles for developing your presentation. (Examples: layout editor, illustrator, typist)

Use the chart in “Use of Information” to record your research.
