Assignment 

Assignment Objectives:

     1. To develop further knowledge and appreciation of Spain and its people by learning
          about its regions, its culture (including religious festivals, dances, music, art, customs,
          cuisine), and by discovering little known facts about Spain's famous people and places.
     2. To do research in another language--Spanish.
     3. To practice the four skills of a foreign language: reading, writing,  listening, and speaking.

Assignment Requirements:

     1.  Prepare a group presentation on your approved topic.
     2.  Presentation must be lively, entertaining, and informative.  (NOT a lecture!)
     3.  Visuals (posters, videos, powerpoint) and/or Audio elements must be included
          in the presentation.
     4.  Each group must submit (as specified in Sra. Henry's handout): a topic page, detailed
          outline of information presented, and a typed, objective (5 multiple choice questions)
          quiz pertaining to your topic.
     5.  Presentation evaluations will be made by group members, teacher and classmates.

Research Requirements: 

     1.  Each group must prepare an accurate bibliography citing all of the resources used
          in preparing the presentation.
     2.  Students must use:
                      --At least one Internet source (from the list of linked Internet sites below)
                      --At least one book or periodical reference.

Regional folk dances History and influence of Romans in

Bullfighting Andalucia:

Daily life in Spain:  concept of time, values, family structure, meals, adolescence, dating and marriage rituals, birth, death, baptism, divorce, importance of family, pastimes.  Compare and contrast to U.S. Castilla:

Searching the Shelves 

All computers in the library can access the Media Center's Electronic Card Catalog. It is
located on the Global Access Menu under Media Center Programs. The Catalog identifies all
the holdings (books, etc.) of the WJHS Media Center. It is also possible to search for materials
on the MCPS Library Catalog Online. Be sure to set the limits of your search to Walter
Johnson HS only.
