ASSIGNMENT
The Department of Tourism of Spain has contracted with each of your
ad agencies to "sell" Spain. The team or individual who produces
the best presentation of one province will win the account to advertise
for all of Spain. You and your team will win a bonus
if your agency is awarded the account! |
1. Select a province of Spain

Draw a flag of the province, and find its coat of arms.

Find out what language, besides Spanish, is spoken there.
Find an example of that other language.

Your presentation should convince the class that your province
is the best one in Spain.
2. Find a recipe from that province.

Prepare it for the class. Be sure to prepare enough so that
all the class members get a taste. Each group must provide the necessary
plates, cups, plasticware, napkins.
3. Select a famous Spanish artist.

Write the complete name, and practice pronouncing it correctly.

Prepare a short biography of the artist.
-
Explain the significant historical events which occurred
during the artist's lifetime.

Show pictures of at least five of the artist's paintings.

Select one painting to research more fully. Discover
what the artist wished to convey to the viewer.
Optional Activities:

Pick another painting by the artist, and make up your own
story about it.

Pick a famous person Spain. Prepare a short biography,
and find a picture of the
person. Include information about why this person
is famous.

THE SHELVES
All computers in the library can access the Media Center's
Electronic Card Catalog. It is located on the Global Access Menu
under Media Center Programs. The Catalog identifies all the holdings
(books, etc.) of the WJHS Media Center. It is also possible to search
for materials on the MCPS
Library Catalog Online.
Be sure to set the limits of your search to Walter Johnson HS only.
