INTRODUCTION:
You are about to embark on a field trip to France, via the Internet!  This project, in attempting to approximate a "real" trip as closely as possible, has 3 parts:

 1. Preparing for the trip
 2. Traveling and accumulating memories of the trip
 3. Sharing new knowledge and experiences

Opening page:

Emblem or location on reduced size map
An appealing visual, that will entice the reader/public to visit your Region

PART 1:  PREPARING FOR THE TRIP

Using the list of sites on the Pathfinder as a starting point, research and take notes on the following information:

a) how to obtain a passport
b) if a visa or immunizations are required
c) currency exchange: what the current rate of exchange is per U.S.dollar; where to exchange money/travelers cheques here and there.

d) government or other warnings to travelers in France at this time
e) weather for this time of year, and temperature. You are leaving
next month.                                        Page 1  (The only page in English)

PART 2:  "TRAVELING" AND ACCUMULATING MEMORIES

Develop an itinerary for 5 days with stop in 1 region assigned by your instructor, and select:

  • a hotel to stay in (and why you selected it), description of accomodations, address, telephone/fax number with area code, hotel rate in euro and dollars. If you go to 5 different cities/places, one hotel for each.          Page 2
  • restaurant to eat in, and recommendations for 3 meals (petit déjeuner, déjeuner et dîner). Mention the ingredients of typical dishes, how it is prepared.           Page 3

  • 5 activities to do/sites to visit  (Examples:  tour a museum, castle, or forest; shop in a famous store; go to a soccer game, etc.)  Be specific about the name of the places.          Page 4

  • a souvenir that is native/typical to the area, and its description.  New French words and phrases you pick along the way. Any special advice for future travelers (e.g. crime, electrical appliances, holidays, etc.)
A final evaluation of your Region, in…
3 sentences using the comparative of adjectives or nouns, and
3 sentences using the superlative of adjectives or nouns.           Page 5
  • Credits – on the last page, copy and paste all URL (web addresses) you used for your project.          Page 6
PART 3:  SHARING NEW KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCES

After completing your "virtual trip" on the Net, share your new knowledge and experiences.
Choose one format, and create an article for a travel magazine, a travel brochure, a travel newsletter, a travel plan for your parents to take you to France, a Power Point presentation, a Web page. Be creative.

Pages/Slides/Headings 2-6 are written in French.
