The Kindergarten teachers are eating lunch. Four teachers are eating at the yellow table and two are eating at the blue table. The two smaller tables are the two parts in a part-part-whole model.


The students first show the number of teachers at the two tables, or that make up the two parts.

Then they move the teachers from the two parts to make the whole. Now, all of the teachers are eating together. The whole is 6. The students can move the teachers back to their original tables to show the addends, and then all together to show the sum.
