Students in Ms. Thompson's Class explore the entire writing process, creating counting books. The students first looked at other counting books to get ideas. They generated ideas for their own books to decide what the creatures in their book would be doing. They wrote a rough draft of their book, and Ms. Thompson edited their writing and typed their books into the computer. The students then illustrated their books. Finally, their book is published, and the students have a finished product that has gone through the entire writing process. |

Each child chose a different subject for their counting book. Although they are following a formula for a counting book, each student shows creativity by choosing activities for the creatures in their book.
