Join Us for the Special Education Resource Fair on May 11

Blair High School. The free event will be held from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., and is open to MCPS parents, staff and community membersThe fair will include valuable resources from a variety of community resources and vendors, and fun children’s activities, including moon bounces, music, arts and crafts, and balloon artists.

A variety of MCPS special education offices, community organizations and government agencies will be on hand to present information and resources and services to parents and caregivers. Among them: Autism Society of Maryland, Arc of Montgomery County, Division of Rehabilitation Services, Down Syndrome Network, Independence Now, Maryland Association of Nonpublic Special Education Facilities, Parents’ Place of Maryland, Partnership for Extraordinary Minds, Potomac Community Resources, Raising Orchid Kids, National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled and Special Olympics.

Four workshops will also be presented concurrently from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Visitors will be able to choose from the following topics:

  • “The Circle of Courage: A Resilience Code,” presented by Social-Emotional Special Education Services
  • “The Road Ahead for Students with IEPs: Transition from Middle School and Beyond," presented by Transition Services
  • “Understanding the IEP Process,” presented by Angelee Falodun, Special Education Elementary Program Specialist and Learning Center Coordinator at Sequoyah Elementary School
  • “Dispute Resolution Options,” presented by Amy Smith, Instructional Specialist, Resolution and Compliance Unit
